After a journey of a few days to the Moon, the Artemis 2 crew and their Orion spacecraft, named Integrity, are behind the moon and currently in a communications blackout with flight controllers in Houston.
The loss of signal is expected to last just a few more minutes and was expected as the Moon blocks radio signals from reaching Earth.
During this time, the crew is supposed to be taking photographs of the surface, and they have already seen many features that have not been observed by humans.
The Artemis 2 crew consists of commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glober and mission specialists Christina Koch of NASA and Jerremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency.
Glover is the first African American to travel to the moon, Koch is the first woman, and Hansen is the first non-Amnerican to travel to the moon.
