UN Security Council Vetoes Strait of Hormuz Security Resolution

Russia and Chiba today vetoed a UN Security Council resolution o boost security in the Strait of Homuz through which much of the Middle East’s soil is shipped globally.

The veto came just a few hours before the United States and Iran announced a two-week cease fire and the reopening of the strait to traffic.

President Donald J. Trump announced the two-week cease fire after a deal was brokered by Pakistan’s prime minister and field marshal.

The deal also established a possible framework for a lasting peace accord between the United States and Iran.
