City of San Angelo to Move Water Line from Under San Angelo Central High School Building

The City of San Angelo has announced that it will move a water transmission line under San Angelo Central High School and will move it to another section of the campus.

This comes as construction is set to begin on bond projects approved by voters and the San Angelo Independent School District at the campus.

“We’ve got a water transmission line that goes back to the 1950s that goes right through the middle of campus of the high school,” John Kaufman, director of water utilities, said. “It was there before the high school was built. In fact, in the basement area of some of the buildings, that pipe is just sitting there. It’s a 20-inch diameter concrete cylinder pipe, as I recall. The school is planning some renovations as well, and the renovation work they want to do is also going to be on top of that pipe. We’ve met with the school district folks and told them it’d be advisable to move that pipeline.”

The work to move the transmission line is expected to be completed before the start of the school year.
