Road Crews Begin Loop 306 Project to Resurface Roads
Works crews are busy resurfacing pavement along a stretch of Loop 306 in San Angelo.
The project is being carried out around San Angelo because of uneven roads and other hazards.
Because of the project, San Angelo and other drivers may encounter uneven sections where workers have removed portions of the existing surface to prepare the roadway for the new overlay.
Officials said the thin asphalt overlay will strengthen the roadway and improve the surface along the entire loop.
Crews must remove additional pavement beneath bridges and at other locations to maintain the existing clearance heights. This is because adding asphalt without first removing part of the roadway could reduce bridge clearances and require transportation officials to remeasure and adjust posted clearance signs.
