San Angelo ISD Approves 2027-28 Elementary Attendance Boundaries
The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees approved elementary attendance boundary adjustments during the June 15, 2026, Regular Board Meeting in a 6-1 vote. The new attendance boundaries will take effect on July 1, 2027, prior to the start of the 2027-2028 school year.
The boundary adjustments are designed to balance enrollment across the district, improve operational efficiency and support long-term student needs in response to declining enrollment and budget pressures.
The approved attendance zones are the result of months of work by the San Angelo ISD Committee on Academics, Stewardship and Efficiency (CASE), a community-based committee tasked with reviewing district enrollment data, campus capacities and demographic trends. The committee met six times throughout the spring semester before presenting its recommendation to district administration and the Board of Trustees.
Like many school districts across Texas and the nation, San Angelo ISD continues to experience declining enrollment and changing demographic patterns. The approved attendance boundaries are intended to better align student populations with available campus capacity and support the district's long-term financial sustainability.
The new attendance boundaries will take effect beginning with the 2027-2028 school year.
No students will be impacted during the 2026-2027 school year.
Families have more than a year to prepare before the changes take effect.
The district will provide additional information, implementation details and transition resources throughout the 2026-2027 school year.
The San Angelo ISD Attendance Zone webpage will be updated to reflect the newly approved attendance boundaries.
Families are encouraged to review the approved boundary maps and determine whether their attendance zone will change.
San Angelo ISD appreciates the work of the CASE Committee members who dedicated their time and expertise throughout the process. Their recommendations helped guide a plan focused on student success, responsible stewardship of district resources and the long-term sustainability of San Angelo ISD schools.
