Senior Dog “China” Finally Adopted After 10 Years in Shelter in Odessa

A senior dog named China has a forever home after waiting at the Humane Society Shelter in Odessa, Texas, for more than a decade.

After years of watching other dogs get adopted, China found a loving home with an older couple from Odessa.

Senior Kennel Tech Kelly Shannon said China is living her best life.

“She’s in a loving home where she’s with another female senior dog, and their best friends, their inseparable, they sleep together on the bed with their new owners, and that’s what we pray for all of our animals,” Shannon said.

Other senior dogs are waiting for homes, too, according to Shannon. She said animals on the older side tend to get overlooked.

“We’ve got some many other senior dogs that have been here even longer than her that are just so loving, and waiting for the chance to get out of here, just like China.”
