Vice-President JD Vance has responded to a drone attack by Iran on a cargo ship in the area of the Strait of Hormuz on Friday.
Vance posted on social media that if Iran disagreed with the memorandum of understanding that ended the war with the United States, they could simply pick up the phone.
He said that the United States had honored its part of the agreement, and that violence would be met with violence.
The remarks came after the United States responded to the attack by hitting Iranian military assets in the area of the attack.
The current agreement runs for 60 days and is intended to give the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran a time of peace to negotiate that country’s nuclear program.
