Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) President and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen in Beijing.

Xi congratulated the CPP on its 75th founding anniversary, expressing the hope that Cambodia will create new achievements in national construction and rejuvenation under the leadership of the CPP.

Xi said the two countries have continuously strengthened mutual trust and deepened cooperation in various fields since his state visit to Cambodia in April last year, adding that traditional friendship between the two countries is taking on new relevance to the times.

China has always regarded Cambodia as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, said Xi, adding that China firmly supports Cambodia in safeguarding national sovereignty and security and following a development path that suits its national conditions.

Though regional and global situations are evolving and changing constantly, Xi noted that China and Cambodia were partners in solving regional issues. He also noted that the two adhered to the “One China” position towards Taiwan and also share close economic ties.
