Playwright Heidi Schrek to Present What the Constitution Means to Me

Playwright Heidi Schrek’s boundary-breaking play, “What the Constitution Means to Me”, will be shown at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center today and tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

The play, performed by Schrek, examines the meaning of the U.S. Constitution.

Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States.

In this hilarious, hopeful and achingly human play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives.

As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, this timely and deeply personal story invites us to reflect on who the Constitution was written for, and how each generation reinterprets its meaning.

Audience discussions will follow every performance.

Due to some mature language and content, recommended for 13+.
