San Angelo Police Chief Honored by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement

San Angelo Chief of Police Travis Griffith has been honored by the State of Texas for his efforts to improve law enforcement in the city.

Griffith was given a State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Public Service on Friday for his efforts toward revamping the department.

The City of San Angelo and SAPD reported that Griffith was recognized on Friday, June 26, during the 2026 State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Awards held in Austin.

According to the Texas Commission On Law Enforcement, the awards are given to “selected peace officers, reserve officers, jailers, and custodial officers who are licensed by TCOLE.” The website states that nominees “should exceed the normal expectations of job performance through acts of professional achievement, public service, or valor.”
